Travel Health

Member suggestions over the years:

1. Don't worry :)

2. Gut health (preventative):

Probiotics prior to, during and after travel, aloe, breastmilk (if appropriate)

3. Insect deterrants:

Neem oil, B1 patches, mosquito net, close knit clothing at dawn and dusk, no perfume, shower before dusk, NYR Citronella spray, Badger insect spray,  Citronella oil or candles or oil burner for the oil worked well for us and if you do get bitten sandalwood is great to cure the itch!!

Also if you have a fire bucket a moroccan guy told us at sunset get your fire going and leave camp for an hour then come back to the fire, sunset and sunrise they are everywhere but the smoke keeps them away from you, that worked a treat for us and there were literally hundreds in morocco come sunset they were everywhere but the night we did the fire thing we sat outside and they stayed away

4 Food Hygiene:

  • Drink only bottled or pre-boiled water.
  • Eat only freshly cooked food
  • Peel or wash own fruit and veg
  • No dairy or frozen food in hot countries

5. First Aid kit

  • Homeopathy kit
  • Hydrogen peroxide 3%
  • Essential oils: lavender (burns), tea tree oil (disinfectant),
  • Tweezers
  • Plasters
  • Arnica cream
  • Calendula gel
  • Colloidal silver
  • Tick removal tool
  • Activated charcoal
  • High UMF Manuka Honey
